Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011: Balmain

I LOVE the rock 'n roll detailing of this Balmain collection!
A combination of edgy styling and feminine shapes. Proportions that flatter, and best of all those black pumps are totally ill. I want all the jeans and that peachy leather studded jacket is putting me under it's spell.

This collection is all kinds of shiny over the top rock and roll...that's why I love it of course! Here are my favorites:

Glitz and Glitter

Sequins, sequins, sequins. They have been swirling about my brain like a tiny whirlwind of glamour. I am currently finishing up five different items for my store that all feature sequins (pics coming soon). I have been totally inspired by the Balmain dresses and the Patricia Field store. There is something about the way the light catches those tiny little sparkles that makes the dark of winter so much fun. It's disco, it's lifestyles of the rich and famous, it's night clubs, it's cocktails and conversation. Time to get the party started!

Totally Tutu

The tutu. Every woman who loves glamour, will at some point, fall under the spell of the tutu. Whether it's a skirt, a dress, a halloween costume, or a traditional ballet tutu...you will want one. Perhaps it's because you feel a little like a princess, a bride or a fairy-even though you don't really want to admit it. I mean a full grown woman might be a little embarrassed to fess up to loving the same thing a 5 year old does. But, really, some things never change.

When I decided to make a tutu skirt to complement a bustier top I was working on I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I thought it would be a quick and simple sewing project. Without fail, whenever I think that, the project ends up taking 5 times longer than I anticipated and I think about throwing it in the garbage multiple times each day. But I persevered! After 10 yards of white tulle, 2 trips to the fabric store, and more than a few choice words to my sewing machine...I present my version of the super fun, super cute tutu. I have also provided some of my inspiration...enjoy.
