Spring 2011 Couture: Elie Saab

Now, I don't usually like to play up the idea of a strapless red carpet dress, (because this has been so overdone in the celebrity realm) however, there is something to be said for a perfect black strapless formal dress. This entire collection was amazingly flattering and tailored to perfection. Sometimes I'm surprised by how hard it is to find the right classic look for the right occasion. My hat is off to you Elie Saab, because I too am hot in pursuit of creating the perfect strapless special occasion dress.

Kindred Spirit: TOM FORD

It was a dark day 6 years ago when Tom Ford "retired" from YSL and Gucci. I have always admired his design sense and I still find a lot of inspiration from those collections past. Well, it was a relief to hear that he was coming back to women's wear for Spring 2011 but, annoying that he didn't allow any photos or video to be released. The above pics are a first glimpse into the new collection.
Tom and I could be kindred spirits. His over use of metallics, leopard print, 70's whites, and heavy duty sexuality just seem right to me.
Why be soft and vulnerable when you can be fierce and hard core?
His tastes speak to my inner bad kitty!
Can't wait to see the collection in it's entirety, and Tom; some runway video right about now would be really nice, Thanks.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011: Miu Miu

I have yet to be disappointed by Miu Miu. I loved that she continued the graphic animal prints in a more abstract way and in darker tones. Clever. High necked, non-revealing good girl dresses in seductive satin with man-eater heels...struck just the right balance for me.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011: Alexander McQueen

Even though no one will ever replace the original Alexander, this McQueen show kept his tradition alive. I loved the warrior meets woodland creature vibe. The shoes were out of control, and the detail as always, was humbling. A nice surprise from the midst of Paris.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011: Viktor&Rolf

Ahhh, Viktor&Rolf, I knew I could count on you! Thanks for giving me the dose of conceptual fashion I was so desperately needing. I find this design duo endlessly fascinating and inspiring. They aren't afraid to take their concept to it's breaking point, and I can't get enough. The ruffles, puff sleeves, pleating, and color pallet are right up my alley.

I recommend this documentary, it is a glimpse into their innerworkings.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011: Balmain

I LOVE the rock 'n roll detailing of this Balmain collection!
A combination of edgy styling and feminine shapes. Proportions that flatter, and best of all those black pumps are totally ill. I want all the jeans and that peachy leather studded jacket is putting me under it's spell.

Speak Lace to Me...

Sugary, girly, country chic...
Clothes for afternoon tea, long walks on the beach, and bedroom soirees.
Speak lace to me, and speak love.

MILAN FASHION WEEK Spring 2011: MOSCHINO

Moschino never lets me down! I just can't get enough of the polk-a-dots, stripes, ruffles, and feminine shapes. A showcase of a lot of my favorite things: ribbon heels, bustiers, fleur de lis, and lots of belts. This is a decidedly a flirty, espresso at an outdoor cafe, shopping after brunch, cocktail party in the evening kind of collection.
