BITCH OUT: DSQUARED2 MFW 2010

Dean and Dan of Dsquared2 always manage to put on an amazing show, this one was no different. I liked their departure from sloppy college girl to hard ass bitch. This was kind of a return to classic shapes and traditional colors but styled with a modern twist. I didn't love the latex leggings (too Matrix) and the makeup wasn't amazing, but this collection definitely appeals to the Alexis Colby (from Dynasty) in me!

Meow! PS love the shoes

We will be seeing this on the red carpet

Love the zipper on the outside and it is sporting my favorite shape

Star Search

Like a beautiful galaxy of nightly glamour, stars have been circling my brain and providing a lot of fashion inspiration. The star symbol brings about a lot of references: 80's dance party, 50's atomic era, disco, and celebrity. Make a youthful statement and dress it up with stars!

Lady Gaga VS Beyonce

Ok- so I just want you all to know I really debated about watching the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards this year. I didn't even watch last year because 2007 was so disappointing. But I digress. I was really looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga perform, because I really haven't seen her do anything live. Boy, it was really a let down. Not only was it not visually stunning, it was weird, and boring. She's not a great singer, and really not a great dancer, and we all know what that means: she's riding the image. I do, however; respect her over the top fashion sense. It's nice to see somebody trying to shake things up. No boring strapless evening dresses for her. Do I love her choices? Not for the VMA's, but she has worn some other stuff I really liked.

On the other hand Beyonce- who I have never been a fan of-totally blew Lady Gaga out of the water with her performance of "Single Ladies". I didn't love either of her outfits but, she can sing, and she can dance! Her performance was visually stunning. To put it in the words of my husband (who hates to dance): "That was the best thing ever!"
This is a Lady Gaga look I really enjoyed.

Totally Tutu

The tutu. Every woman who loves glamour, will at some point, fall under the spell of the tutu. Whether it's a skirt, a dress, a halloween costume, or a traditional ballet tutu...you will want one. Perhaps it's because you feel a little like a princess, a bride or a fairy-even though you don't really want to admit it. I mean a full grown woman might be a little embarrassed to fess up to loving the same thing a 5 year old does. But, really, some things never change.

When I decided to make a tutu skirt to complement a bustier top I was working on I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I thought it would be a quick and simple sewing project. Without fail, whenever I think that, the project ends up taking 5 times longer than I anticipated and I think about throwing it in the garbage multiple times each day. But I persevered! After 10 yards of white tulle, 2 trips to the fabric store, and more than a few choice words to my sewing machine...I present my version of the super fun, super cute tutu. I have also provided some of my inspiration...enjoy.
