A Tulle Fantasy

I have spent a large part of the New Year working on filling orders for tutus. My sewing room has been a billowing cloud of peachy pink tulle. There is something timeless and so romantic about that effortless ballet chic. It has inspired me to add more styles and colors to my shop. Here's to cotton candy sunsets and pearly white boudoirs.

Summertime Greeks

Ok, I admit it.   I am a Sex and the City fan. As a fashion lover, I find both Sarah Jessica Parker and Carrie Bradshaw irresistibly delightful. I have been inspired and influenced by the show, (and now the movies-not as good-but just as fun) and most recently by summer whites. Here is my latest compulsive creation brought on by the fever that is SATC2!

This Hat is for the Birds!

Well, I've finally completed my first hat! It is made from a vintage shoulder pad, vintage birdcage veil, taffeta and 2 darling doves...I think I am addicted. I was very much inspired by the wedding ensemble worn by SJP in the Sex and the City Movie. There is something commanding about wearing feathers in your hair or a bird on your hat.

White Hot

Have you ever noticed how cool people look when they are wearing a slick white suit? There is something sexy and androgynous about a woman when she gets all glammed up in a white tuxedo.  White exudes luxury, commands attention, and draws the eye. Bowie and Travolta set the standard and I think sometimes we would all like to get back to that disco ball of escape and dance the night away. Here are some of my favorite examples of the smoldering white suit in action.

New Shoes

Nothing like a new pair of birthday shoes to make a girl feel like new. Check out these babies! Can you believe they are from Target?

Totally Tutu

The tutu. Every woman who loves glamour, will at some point, fall under the spell of the tutu. Whether it's a skirt, a dress, a halloween costume, or a traditional ballet tutu...you will want one. Perhaps it's because you feel a little like a princess, a bride or a fairy-even though you don't really want to admit it. I mean a full grown woman might be a little embarrassed to fess up to loving the same thing a 5 year old does. But, really, some things never change.

When I decided to make a tutu skirt to complement a bustier top I was working on I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I thought it would be a quick and simple sewing project. Without fail, whenever I think that, the project ends up taking 5 times longer than I anticipated and I think about throwing it in the garbage multiple times each day. But I persevered! After 10 yards of white tulle, 2 trips to the fabric store, and more than a few choice words to my sewing machine...I present my version of the super fun, super cute tutu. I have also provided some of my inspiration...enjoy.
