This season of love has inspired so many amazing handmade creations on Etsy, that it's making my head spin a little bit. So many caught my eye, but I just couldn't include them all here. These are my favorites, the best of the best. I hope this collection inspires you to craft or buy something special and handmade this year.

In the Mood...

This image from last month's W magazine caught my attention. I love the shoes, the Jean Paul Gaultier dress and the tights. It's romance with an edge...just the kind of thing I can't resist.

Jerry Hall: ICON

Sometimes I get very nostalgic for fashion past. Sometimes the glitz and shimmer of 70's and 80's fashion photography makes me wish for something more hard core and in your face for right now. Jerry Hall sums up the vibe of that era: sexy, unreachable, beautiful, girl next door. She was two parts Amazon and one part southern bell. Irresistible rock royalty, ruby lipped bombshell, care free party girl. Men wanted her, women wanted to be her- isn't that the definition of celebrity? I love all of these images, the one that really seems to sum her up is the portrait for Vanity Fair of her breastfeeding her baby. With both eyes on the camera she's saying: Look at me! I am a mother, a glamazon, rich, famous, and I'm flaunting my womanhood right in your face-and you like it!

Helmut Newton You're My Hero

I love Helmut Newton's work. Some people would argue that he hates women and that his photographs are demeaning. I totally disagree. There is nothing more powerful than a sexy woman and he knew how to put that idea in your face. This photo of Daryl Hannah circa 1980's is such a statement. The amazon who can't be troubled with a crying baby. The baby of course representing real life, motherhood, sacrifice. The amazon representing fantasy, perfection, and sex. It's a little bit troubling, very strange, and somehow inspiring.

White Hot

Have you ever noticed how cool people look when they are wearing a slick white suit? There is something sexy and androgynous about a woman when she gets all glammed up in a white tuxedo.  White exudes luxury, commands attention, and draws the eye. Bowie and Travolta set the standard and I think sometimes we would all like to get back to that disco ball of escape and dance the night away. Here are some of my favorite examples of the smoldering white suit in action.
