The Street Style Tutu

https://www.etsy.com/listing/186071157/pastel-pink-tulle-tutu-knee-length?ref=shop_home_active_5

See it in motion!
See it in motion!
Y'all know how much I love tutus (obviously), so I set off to create a new version of the pastel pink  classic Dark Pony Designs tutu that is inspired by street style fashion.
This skirt is a little more casual, and ready to wear with a simple waist band and a little less volume.
Pairs perfectly with a simple tank, your favorite vintage t shirt, crop top, bustier, leotard, body suit, moto jacket, cardigan, or whatever you dream up. There really is no wrong way to wear this!
Ready for a day of shopping, a hot date, an art gallery reception, a photo shoot, or a special birthday dinner.
Snap one up for yourself and join this classic trend!

Dark Pony Designs x The Blogcademy

I am so excited to announce a sponsorship collaboration between Dark Pony Designs and The Blogcademy. Every participant in the San Francisco class will find a handmade (check out my behind the scenes instagram video) satin hair bow in their goodie bag. If you haven't checked these three amazing babes out, watch the video above!
PS Thanks to Elevia Ritchie for modeling.

Spring Vibes

When friend and photographer Andrea Borden asked if she could borrow a sample for the adorable Dani Vierra to model I jumped at the opportunity for those two to work their magic for Dark Pony Designs!
Even though the day of this photo shoot turned out to be dark and stormy, the images are a vision of spring delight.
This Champagne Dahlia Dress would be so perfect for prom or a bridesmaid or even a romp in the garden.

Romancing the Past

Love this image (via Where the Lovely Things Are ) -it's beauty comes from a melancholy and sentimental sadness, but the colors are just right for spring.

Gloves Galore

I had a collection of vintage gloves that were just asking to be brightened up for spring. I hand dyed each pair and embellished them with bows and vintage buttons. This time of the year just aches for dainty whimsy.

Torturing Tulle

I am still in complete awe of the amazing effects Viktor&Rolf were able to achieve with tulle! Totally genius and mind boggling. I love tulle, and some day when my construction skills match my ideas, I will whip up some abstract perfection of my own.

A few of my favorite things...

A flirty little lacey dress-slipping off ever so slowly, hot pink bra, topped off with some amazing shoes...
This made my day!

Put on Your Easter Bonnet...

Tomorrow is Easter. I find it hard to resist all of the fuzzy, cozy little bunnies and chicks staring at me from the department store shelves. Etsy, of course, has no shortage of cuteness this spring season. Here are some pastel treats to feast your eyes on.

In the Mood...

This image from last month's W magazine caught my attention. I love the shoes, the Jean Paul Gaultier dress and the tights. It's romance with an edge...just the kind of thing I can't resist.

GOLD: Jean Paul Gaultier for Target

Jean Paul Gaultier is one of my all time favorite designers, and not just because he designed the infamous Madonna cone bra. When I found out he was doing a low price line for Target I felt like I had hit the jackpot! I love the contrast of the sexy little dresses and the hard edge of the leather jackets and the graphic t-shirts. My picks are the trench, the black dress with the eye detail, and the sailor top. Hits stores March 7...happy shopping!

The Future is Now: CHANEL Couture 2010

I love couture- I mean who doesn't? I've been hungrily browsing through all of the Paris highlights this week and well, I had to say something about Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld in all his evil genius has dreamt up a future that does not include black lyra, patent leather, or studs. Not that I don't enjoy that look when done in the right way, however; it's been done to death. I like that, in all of this doom and gloom, Chanel is offering up a collection that is totally modern and all about romance, soft colors, and sparkle. Obviously he's seen the future and it isn't 2012!

Inspiration: Lanvin 2010

I am all about the asymmetrical look these days. It seems like every garment I make just needs one ruffled sleeve, or an embellishment on one side and not the other. I love these Lanvin dresses, they are truly inspiring!
