The Street Style Tutu

https://www.etsy.com/listing/186071157/pastel-pink-tulle-tutu-knee-length?ref=shop_home_active_5

See it in motion!
See it in motion!
Y'all know how much I love tutus (obviously), so I set off to create a new version of the pastel pink  classic Dark Pony Designs tutu that is inspired by street style fashion.
This skirt is a little more casual, and ready to wear with a simple waist band and a little less volume.
Pairs perfectly with a simple tank, your favorite vintage t shirt, crop top, bustier, leotard, body suit, moto jacket, cardigan, or whatever you dream up. There really is no wrong way to wear this!
Ready for a day of shopping, a hot date, an art gallery reception, a photo shoot, or a special birthday dinner.
Snap one up for yourself and join this classic trend!

The Blossoms Started to Fall

It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
When your true lover comes your way
It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
The poets say
The story goes that once a cherry tree
Beside an apple tree did grow,
And there a boy once met his bride to be
Long, long ago
The boy looked into her eyes
It was a feat to enthrall
The breezes started their sighs
The blossoms started to fall
And, as they gently caressed
The lovers looked up to find
The branches of the two trees
Were intertwined

And so that's why the poets often write
When there's a new moon up above
It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
When you're in love
-Perez Prado

About 4 years ago, while thrifting, I came across a cut of vintage silk fabric that was in perfect condition and printed with the most beautiful blooming cherry trees. I couldn't decide what to do with it, so I stowed it away. It was too precious to use for just anything, so I waited for a special occasion, an idea that would do it justice. Then, recently my mom came across her petticoat slips from high school (1955) and donated them to my cause. After cutting it to length and hand dying it a delightful pink, it is now giving all kinds of volume to the cherry blossom skirt I finally created. I hope this lives on with a person who covets it with the same reverence I do.

A Tulle Fantasy

I have spent a large part of the New Year working on filling orders for tutus. My sewing room has been a billowing cloud of peachy pink tulle. There is something timeless and so romantic about that effortless ballet chic. It has inspired me to add more styles and colors to my shop. Here's to cotton candy sunsets and pearly white boudoirs.
