Behind the Lace Curtain

When done right, there is nothing like black lace. It is a timeless classic that, when used properly, can instantly transform the everyday into a naughty mystery. Think femme fatale, film noir, dangerous glamour, and major trend. I too fell under it's spell at an early age, influenced by the "Vogue" video, old Hollywood, and Joan Collins. Here is a collection of sheer genius.

DARK ROMANCE: DOLCE AND GABANNA FW2010

What can I say? I guess I'm a sucker for Dolce and Gabanna. They have this unique way of staying true to their brand image while pumping out new classics. The cut of the bustiers, pencils skirts, and jackets looks back to a vintage past: 20's flapper, 40's tough girl, 60's bombshell.  I am in love with the statement necklaces, the lace overlays, and the layers of hardware adorning everything from bags to jackets. Even the return to red lips feels fresh and modern. Black, gold, red, green, yellow, leopard, polka dots, and lingerie, oh my! Here are my favorites:

Milan Fashion Week: D&G 2010= Swiss Miss

I'm not what you would call a snow bunny (in truth I have never even been skiing) but if I were to need an oh so darling wardrobe to wear to the Swiss chalet then this would be it. D&G- Dolce and Gabanna's lower priced line is really doin' it to me. All those alpine sweaters with deer and snowflakes, furry boots, and sultry shapes-Genius!

Loving the bustier top with the puff skirt in sweater knit

Honestly a sweater bathing suit completely impractical and completely HOT!

Puff sleeve sweater with the sheer skirt...mmmm

I love the idea of the sweater pattern becoming a graphic on this sheer top

Ok- this is on the edge of crazy town- but I still love it!

In the right place at the right time I would totally wear this.

This is givin' me all sorts of ideas for recycled sweater bustiers!

My Inner Lumberjack

As I'm sure you are well aware, (being a fashion follower) plaid is hot, hot, hot! I'm loving the big checkerboard lumberjack pattern in bright colors: yellow, red, turquoise, and pink. I have been wanting one of those cutesy tops for so long...so I decided to make myself something special for Christmas. I found a vintage Field and Stream men's shirt at a thrift store and transformed it into my idea of a sexy eye catching party top. A happy accident inspired the peek-a-boo lace panel in the back (but that is actually my favorite part). I was very much inspired by previous Ralph Lauren and D&G runway collections. Here are some of my favorites...
