NY Fashion Week: The Blondes 2010

Well, I have saved the best for last: The Blondes. They like to mix things up and keep the crazy level on high, but hey, that's why I love them! The over the top sparkle, layers of embellishment, eye popping corsets, well, you get the idea. I love the mix of hard core hardware with feminine shapes.  If Lady Gaga had any sense she would hire The Blondes as here lifetime atelier!
Here are my favorites:

NY Fashion Week: Diane von Furstenberg 2010

I loved the glitz and the dark glamour of Diane von Furstenberg's F/W collection. It was flashy, but also very wearable. I liked the proportions, the colors, and the flirty detailing. Like a magpie I just can't ignore shiny, sparkling, sequined objects. My favorite accessory was the winter hat with the veiling- what can I say, I'm a sucker for veil!

Flock of Sparrows

I'm so inspired and excited by the Miu Miu 2010 ready to wear collection. The graphic prints, the sequins, the delicate colors and the amazing footwear speaks to me. Totally beautiful, wearable, and instantly recognizable. Mark my words- there are "IT" bags and key pieces in there. The symbol of a flying bird says nature, freedom, and joy. These are ideas we all need to hold onto these days. Here are a few of my favorites...

Holiday Sparkle Featured on Scoutie Girl!

holiday bling! trendspotting :: sequins

handmade holiday - trend: sequins & bling

one. sequin headband by icecreamcandy
two. sequin bow clutch by darkponydesigns
three. sequin bangle bracelet by lapetitcoquete
four. black sequin headband by looksgood
if yesterday's post on papercutting - or scherenschnitte - was inspired by the anthropologie catalog, then today's is inspired by the holiday urban outfitters catalog! sequins, sequins, sequins!
of course, sparkle is always on trend for the holidays - think disco balls, tinsel, lots & lots of glitter - so i can't really say this is anything new. but uo made it very clear to me that my hard-earned holiday dud dollars would be best spent on sequins and sequins alone.

SO excited to be featured here...thanks for the love Scoutie Girl!!!

New Designs!

I have been working with sequins a lot lately, and I thought I would share some of my finished projects here. I am really loving the idea of recycling boring everyday objects into one of a kind statement pieces. You must be wondering...Where can I get these?

Glitz and Glitter

Sequins, sequins, sequins. They have been swirling about my brain like a tiny whirlwind of glamour. I am currently finishing up five different items for my store that all feature sequins (pics coming soon). I have been totally inspired by the Balmain dresses and the Patricia Field store. There is something about the way the light catches those tiny little sparkles that makes the dark of winter so much fun. It's disco, it's lifestyles of the rich and famous, it's night clubs, it's cocktails and conversation. Time to get the party started!
