Last Minute New Years Eve Fashion

Needing some last minute ideas for ringing in the New Year in style? Here are my Top Ten fashion musts of the season!

Top Ten
Holiday Fashion Musts!

10. Belt It
Want to look girly and fabulous in any outfit? Get a statement belt… this works with any figure, and any ensemble. Try it with a t-shirt and jeans or with a nice jersey dress and flats. My personal trending favorite: Belt a baggy flannel shirt and pair it with a pair of skinny jeans and flats!

9. Metal Mania
Metalic flats dress up the dullest of outfits and work well with anything from a conservative office outfit to a mini dress for a night out. Try gold, silver, or a metallic bright like neon green or pink.

8. Gloves, Gloves, Gloves
Whether they are leather, vintage, knit, or cotton, gloves top off any winter look and are completely practical and functional. PS - they also make a great gift!

7. Chain Gang
I just can’t get enough of the chain look. Pick one statement piece to try out this trend - an oversized bag, chunky boots, or an embellished tee shirt.

6. Bright Nights
Nothing brightens up a cold dark night like bright color. Neon yellow, pink, or green look amazing with black, grey, and chocolate brown. Give it a try, even if it’s just a scarf.

5. Glitter Galore
For an eye catching look- spice it up with sequins. This trend is really popular right now- so there is no shortage of choices. Just be sure to keep it simple. Only one sequined piece at a time!

4. Dance The Night Away
Everyone- no matter what your age, height, size, or shape must own a pair of killer heels.  Don’t shy away from “too high” or “too much” – when it comes to party fashion there are no rules for your feet. I love platforms, peep toes, and ankle boots.

3. Outer Wow
Outerwear is a big part of the holiday season, so why not make it fabulous? I like wool belted trench coats in black or tweed. Beautiful tapestry coats trimmed in fur, or ruffled girlie trapeze coats in any color of the rainbow. Baby it’s cold outside!

2. Take A Bow
Nothing says, “Look at me,” like bows. They work for your hair, as a necklace, an appliqué embellishment, on a belt, dress up a bag or clutch. This is a trend that uses a classic symbol and works for everyone.

1. Drum Roll Please
The number one holiday fashion must is: a veiled hair fascinator or hat. It’s a vintage accessory but when paired with a modern cocktail ensemble it becomes so high fashion. If you want to exude mystery, sex appeal, and show off your fashion edge you can’t do it any better than with birdcage veil. Try a feathery concoction or a sequined comb- even better a feminine little top hat…it’s the cherry on top!

I Always Wanted to be Snow White

Yesterday I had the good fortune to be featured in the Etsy.com Blog- The Storque! This was my first time and I am so excited. I can't think of a better early Christmas present than to be featured among such talented designers and artists!

ETSY FINDS: SNOW WHITE
DECEMBER 23, 2009
Attention, majestic snow queens! Cloak yourself with a fine layer of fresh-fallen snow and bedazzle your mane with an icicle crown, for now's the moment to hail the sled and head for the land of abominable snowmen and powdery slopes. Complement the glittering alpine terrain with this blizzard of monochromatic delights. Dig for more ethereal fashion items for a breath of frosty air.

Quite the Spread

The most recent issue of W Magazine had a feature called "Art and Commerce". I loved it! It's almost as if someone tapped into my imagination, channeled my style and point of view. If I could be the photographer, stylist, and model for a major magazine- it would be a little something like this...

Lady Gaga VS Beyonce

Ok- so I just want you all to know I really debated about watching the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards this year. I didn't even watch last year because 2007 was so disappointing. But I digress. I was really looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga perform, because I really haven't seen her do anything live. Boy, it was really a let down. Not only was it not visually stunning, it was weird, and boring. She's not a great singer, and really not a great dancer, and we all know what that means: she's riding the image. I do, however; respect her over the top fashion sense. It's nice to see somebody trying to shake things up. No boring strapless evening dresses for her. Do I love her choices? Not for the VMA's, but she has worn some other stuff I really liked.

On the other hand Beyonce- who I have never been a fan of-totally blew Lady Gaga out of the water with her performance of "Single Ladies". I didn't love either of her outfits but, she can sing, and she can dance! Her performance was visually stunning. To put it in the words of my husband (who hates to dance): "That was the best thing ever!"
This is a Lady Gaga look I really enjoyed.
VMA Performance Look
VMA Arrival Look- I like the collar...
VMA Audience Look
VMA Acceptance Look
VMA Performance Finale
VMA Arrival Look
VMA Performance Look- Not my favorite-but it got the job done.

That's just my opinion...tell me what you think!

Black.White.Animal Print.Marilyn. Oh My!

I love Dolce and Gabanna. They are always right on the money. This show is from the Fall/Winter 2009-2010 collection. Love the strong silhouette with the big shoulders, cinched waist, and killer accessories. Serious fashion with flirty detailing. I even love this U2 remix they used...check it out!

The Man knows How to put on a Show!

John Galliano is one of my fashion heros...he is very over the top, but his clothing is amazing. I found a clip of his Fall/winter 2009 Haute Couture show and wanted to show it here. I love the idea of the snow tunnel.
